Spells, Arcanes: Cantrips
Cantrips are the smallest and simplest form of Arcanes magic in Arvelas. They are spells weaker than level 1, incapable of causing serious harm, but often surprisingly useful in everyday life. Many wizards and apprentices rely on cantrips for small tasks, from lighting a candle to tidying a desk, or even easing minor discomforts.
Although minor in power, cantrips still require focus and skill to cast. They use Magic Points (MP), and their casting speed varies, making them slower than instinctive magical reactions. Some cantrips are available to beginner wizards, while others require a higher level of training to master.
In gameplay, cantrips add flavor, utility, and clever options without unbalancing combat. They reflect the practical and subtle ways magic shapes daily life in Arvelas, allowing spellcasters to perform tasks, distractions, and minor effects that are often more creative than destructive.
