Unbound Mana

Unbound mana occurs when a character accesses their latent magical power, unlocking and opening their mana, gaining access to magical powers like spells, but also becoming vulnerable to attacks that target magical points (MP) instead of health points (HP).

Knowledge of unbound mana is rare. Some creatures and attacks only cause damage to individuals with unbound mana. Weapons designed to exploit this vulnerability—called manaric weapons—were historically sought, collected, and destroyed by magic users, though a few may still exist.

Over time, unbound mana may naturally reseal itself, but the process is slow and poorly understood, sometimes taking years.
